Rachel Atherley

Born and raised on a small rural farm just south of Missoula Montana Rachel was brought up to truly and completely appreciate the magic of nature. She was always inspired to create things, especially jewelry. This passion was turned into a career when she graduated with her BFA in Metalsmithing from Montana State University in Bozeman in 2002. Continuing her education, she moved to NY to pursue her MFA in Metalsmithing, which she completed at SUNY New Paltz in 2005.

Along the way she has had the pleasure of working for many talented jewelry designers. Namely of which, she has been with the gifted and renowned Annette Ferdinandsen as head assistant/goldsmith for many years. She also had the honor of teaching design courses to budding artists at SUNY New Paltz.

In addition to working as a goldsmith and an educator, Rachel has been quietly creating her own complete jewelry collection which she was proud to present for the first time in 20 I O. Using only high quality stones in conjunction with silver and gold each piece is heirloom quality. Craftsmanship and integrity are of the utmost importance and are lovingly instilled in each and every piece of jewelry in Rachel's collection. Her inspirations continue to be wrought from natural forms, shapes and patterns. She is particularly drawn to what is left behind skeletons, skin, fossils, feathers, shells and much more. The combination of the natural relic with the strength and beauty of precious metals and stones allows her work to have a sense of timelessness while still retaining a modern cutting edge. She is currently living and working in the beautiful Hudson Valley where the wonders of nature weave themselves into her very own jewelry collection each and every day.
